Day 1 Arrive in Lisbon, Portugal’s Enchanting Capital
City walking tour
Arrive in Lisbon in the afternoon, and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Relax and refresh, then meet your guides and group in the lobby for introductions. Venture out to the city's historic district. Roam the maze of alleyways in the ancient quarter of Alfama, see the cathedral, and discover the elegant Chiado neighborhood. Marvel at the 12th-century Saint George's Castle, and take in the city panoramas from the iconic Santa Justa elevator. Return to the hotel for a welcome dinner.

Day 2 Asseiceira and the Templar City of Tomar

Enjoy a scenic bus ride from Lisbon, heading north. Reach the sleepy Atalaia, a town with a rich farming history that sits between two rivers, Targus and Almonda. Visit the Igreja Matriz de Atalaia, then start your day's hike from this charming village. Along the way, enjoy spotting colorful wildflowers and marvel at eucalyptus plantations planted where oak forests used to be. Stop for lunch in Asseiceira, then transfer to Tomar, the city that grew out of the 12th-century Templar stronghold, and home to the Convent of Christ which today towers over the town. Stroll through the town with your guides, from the Castle of Tomar to various monuments, arriving at the Praca da Republica and our hotel for the night.

Day 3 Take in the Conimbriga Roman Ruins

From here, transfer to elegant Braga, famous for it religious festivals and Barqoue churches.

Day 6 Travel to Ponte de Lima

Travel to Balugaes, the starting point of your hike to Ponte de Lima. As you walk this seven-mile section made up of dirt tracks, cobbled paths, and the occasional paved road, take in the vine-covered landscapes and small shrines along the way. On Rio Lima, you'll find the pretty Ponte de Lima, one of the oldest villages in the country with medieval houses, lovely flower gardens, pretty squares, and many ancient religious buildings.

Day 7 Hike the “Queen Stage”

Start today's hike from Ponte de Lima, crossing the bridge over the Lima River. This is one of the most beautiful portions of the Portuguese Camino - the “Queen's Stage” - during which you will cross the hill of “the Witch” and hike up to Pilgrims Cross. Descend to the bus and transfer to Tui for two nights.

Day 8 Venture on to the Final Portuguese City, Valenca

Transfer back to Rubiaes, where you ended yesterday's hike and start walking along an old Roman road, between forest and small villages. After lunch and more urban terrain, arrive in Valenca, the last Portuguese city on the route, with a wonderful citadel overlooking the Mino River, the natural border between Portugal and Spain. Once in Galicia in Spain, you will reach the hotel, where you will spend your second night. If time and energy allow, visit the 12th-century Santa María Cathedral in the Old City of Tui.

Day 9 Cross the Verdugo River

Day 10 Travel Through Galicia to the Ultimate Goal, Santiago

Transfer to Escravitude, near Padron, famous for Padron peppers, which you'll have opportunity to taste along the way, as well as for being the former Roman city where apostle Santiago's remains were brought from Jerusalem. As you hike along, notice the horreos, granaries built of wood or stone in Galicia and raised from the ground to keep out rodents. Finally, at long last, arrive in Santiago and visit the Cathedral in the wonderful town square. Spend the night in one of Spain's oldest hotels, the Parador de Santiago de Compostela.

Coimbra is one of the most romantically beautiful cities in Portugal, and it's ancient and ornate buildings are rich in historical and cultural importance. Also, being a university town the city is inevitably dotted with cafe's, and lively night clubs. Beyond the university, Coimbra has much else to offer the visitor not least an array of medieval churches, ancient Roman archaeological sites, and Portugal's largest national park, the Serra da Estrela, a popular destination with all visitors.
The hillside centerpiece of the small town of Tomar, Portugal, is the 12th-century castle built by the crusading Order of the Knights Templar and the later monastery built around it. The entire complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Charola, a 16-sided structure surrounding a gilt octagon, served as the knights' oratory. Several cloisters were added to the complex at different stages, most of them reflecting the power and prestige of the Order of Christ (successor to the Knights Templar order) and its role during the age of exploration.
Also worth seeing in Tomar is one of the oldest synagogues in Portugal, dating back to 1430 but last used as a place of worship in 1496, when the Jews were expelled from the country by Manuel I. It now houses a small Jewish museum.

This wine estate is located in the surroundings of Aldeia Galega and it spreads over the sunny hills’ of Alenquer, a Delimited Region in the northwest of Lisboa. Its historical and excellent vineyards are known since the 16th century and have belonged to Diogo Duff, a brave Scottish man who received the "Tower and Sword" insignia, given by King João VI. Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva bought the estate in the 1980s and made significant investments in its 45ha of vineyard. The introduction of new cultivation methods has allowed the family to consolidate the quality and reputation of their wines.
In an accompanied visit, you can get to know the wine making technology and methods used in the Quinta to produce their elegant wines, learning every step of the wine process. After understand how the wines are produced, see for yourself how they are stored during the ageing process that gives them some of their most typical characteristic. Follows a private and lectured wine tasting, lectured by the responsible for the oenology department, Sandra Tavares da Silva, the daughter of the owners, or by the resident oenologist, so you can confirm the high quality of their product. The family will invite you for lunch at their house.
Sandra is making wines in both Estremadura and the Douro, which necessitates travelling between the two regions three times a week. Since then her day job has been as winemaker for Christiano Van Zeller at Quinta do Vale D. Maria in the Douro. In 2000 she began making wines from her parents Estremadura estate, at the Quinta you will visit. With their depth of fruit and fine structure these have rapidly established a reputation as being among the best of the appellation.
After lunch, drive to the magnificent medieval walled town of Óbidos which has been declared a national monument. It is known as the "Wedding Present Town" because it was a gift King Dinis gave to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282, but that alone is not what makes it such an extraordinarily romantic place - what make it one of Europe's most romantic medieval villages are its incredibly picturesque cobblestone streets lined with colorful houses filled with geraniums and bougainvillea, Gothic doorways and windows, whitewashed churches, flowerpots and dazzling tiles all encircled by the walls of a 12th century castle.

This estate belongs to the Álvares Pereira de Melo family for almost four centuries. In this House lived during over a year the Queen Leonor, third wife of King Manuel I, sister of the Emperor D. Carlos V and mother of Infanta Dona Maria.
Upon arrival at the estate, you will be welcomed by the master rider at the Riding Hall and you will have the opportunity to ride a Lusitano Stallion for a classical dressage lesson.
After this unforgettable experience, you will have time to taste their wines from the different varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir) as well as selected blends such as Padre Pedro, Herdade de Muge and Marquees of Cadaval.
